Debra, I know that I havent seen you for several weeks. I was so happy to see how success full the Garden Cruise was!! YOU have much to be proud of!!! I saw all of the gardens that day, and they were really beautiful. I enjoyed the ‘cruise’. Unfortunately my father was in a auto accident and had just been admitted to the intensive care unit and so I was unable to attend the post festivities. I saw the pictures at your blog and everyone looked like they were having fun. I am sorry to say that since that day we have been trying to get my dad out of the intensive care unit and yesterday he passed away at the age of 90. My dad was the reason that i learned to love to garden , as he had a green house and extensive garden for his sons ( mainly me ) to take care of. He always loved looking at my garden and always looked forward to seeing it as it changed through the season. Ultimately, he is my connection to gardening and of course you. I look forward to seeing you again in the near future. Somethings we never stop loving, gardening, visiting you and Detroit Garden Works, and my Dad (and Mom incase she’s listening) Love, Mark

Dear Mark, my heart goes out to you. There is never a good time to loose a parent. My Mom was the gardener that did for me what your Dad did for you. I think of her every day. Knowing you, I am quite certain your Dad was very well loved by you. I am so sorry, love, Deborah

  2. Hi Deborah! I had the pleasure of seeing your work at Rich and Sue’s wedding, then the house on Military and now the new house. They are a very special family and lucky to have found you – through Kathy. Your work is exceptionally beautiful incorporating just the right landscape for the house involved.
My best to you in your coming retirement!
    Karen (Sue’s mom)
