I suppose I could have exercised a little restraint in the numbers of pictures that are posted here, but this time of year, who wants to edit?
Deborah Silver is a landscape and garden designer whose firm, Deborah Silver and Co Inc, opened its doors in 1986. She opened Detroit Garden Works, a retail store devoted to fine and unusual garden ornament and specialty plants, in 1996. In 2004, she opened the Branch studio, a subsidiary of the landscape company which designs and manufactures garden ornament in a variety of media. Though her formal education is in English literature and biology, she worked as a fine artist in watercolor and pastel from 1972-1983. A job in a nursery, to help support herself as an artist in the early 80’s evolved into a career in landscape and garden design. Her landscape design and installation projects combine a thorough knowledge of horticulture with an artist’s eye for design. Her three companies provide a wide range of products and services to the serious gardener. She has been writing this journal style blog since April of 2009.

Amazing! Did you design and make all of these, and in the other wreath post, Deborah?
Suzanne
Dear Suzanne, Yes, I make all of the wreaths myself. I don’t design them-ahead of time. I just get the materials together I want to use, and get going. I try to work on 2 at a time. I have 12 more special orders to fill. Thanks, Deborah
Great, creative wreaths! Isn’t is fun making them? Lucky customers. Thanks for the glue gun tips. Cynthia
love making them!
Cynthia said “Lucky customers.” Indeed. Deborah agreed to make a wreath each for my sister, my mom and my 93-year-old grandmother. They arrived last week in Minnesota by special delivery and the exclamations from all three women in my family have yet to cease. All agreed that they needed to be placed inside their respective homes — not on the front door — and most are now receiving pride of place over the fireplace mantle. I am so glad I chose this gift for them all. I can tell they will soon become cherished holiday keepsakes. (BTW, the one a received last year stored beautifully over the summer.) Thanks DS.
You are so welcome. Hearing about their reactions-great fun, and satisfying.
I urge you to not get any ideas about exercising restraint with the number of gorgeous pictures in your posts. Your wreaths, which I know you love to create and it shows, are so inspirational and so full of texture that I study each one. I get so many ideas from you all year, but none more so than at Christmas when it seems your imagination has no bounds.
Erin, thank you so much for this!! I’ll just keep the pictures coming. Deborah
