A client with a passionate, “hands-on” interest and commitment to the natural world asked for a landscape design that would provide opportunities for both plants and wildlife to thrive. A diverse selection of trees, shrubs and perennials arranged in a natural and relaxed way speaks to the concept of landscape as habitat. A new landscape to accompany the perimeter of a new house was gently integrated into an existing landscape and garden, many years in the making, existing on the rear portion of the property. The pool terrace is compact, and dotted with containers hosting seasonal/ ornamental plants and vegetables. Of special interest are the katsura espalier trees.
