The 2011 Garden: 24 Moments

I took this photograph in January of 2011.  How different my garden looks today.  In fact, my garden looks different most every day.  I tried very hard to pick only one picture to represent the garden each month-that was too much pressure.  Given that I have 23 pictures dead ahead, I will quit typing, but for this.  My garden gives much back to me.  I could not do without it.

  1. Wonderful reportage. I wonder if I could find photos from every month of the year. Hmm- a new project for 2012.

Happy New Year, Deborah! May 2012 be the year we drive up to meet you and finally visit Detroit Garden Works!

Dear Anne, I would be delighted to have you! I did make the effort to take pictures every month-it is interesting to see the changes. Happy New Year- to you and yours. Deborah

  2. On a strangely warm, very gray, New Year’s Eve in Michigan, your shot of the chartreuse maples with the lilacs (are they a Korean variety…are they even lilacs!?), truly takes one’s breathe away. Thanks for this reminder as we start what always feels to me like the long slog of January and February…it is all about making it to March 15 in my book. All best wishes for the New Year to you, Deborah…and EVERYONE on “the blog.”

    • Deborah Silver says

Dear Michael, Those lilacs are old Palabin lilacs on standard-I can’t wait to see them showing off again. Happy New Year to you too, Deborah

  3. Ann Podeszwa says

Happy New Year Deborah and crew!

  4. Happy New Year Deborah, and keep on in your marvellous job and creations! Thanks for this pretty pictures!
