And To All A Good Night

and to all a good night (11)As it was 47 degrees last night, hauling a tripod around to take pictures in the dark was a breeze. No coat, hat or gloves. The time? 7pm. I am happy to have the light.

and to all a good night (9)Buck came along. We share the garden all summer long.  We just share it in a different way now.

  9. My white amaryrillis that I bought in your shop is stunning on my dining room table tonight. How do you time the blooms so well? Thanks you for the blogs and a wonderful shop. Happy holidays!

    • Deborah Silver says

Donna, its a lot of razz matazz to try to get them to bloom on time. If they are behind, we warm them with heat-especially at the bottom. The top of the frig, or hot water heater, or furnace room can be good. One friend gets out an electric blanket if his are way behind. If they are ahead, we keep them cool. So0 glad that yours worked out so well-happy holidays to you too.

Merry Christmas, Deborah! Thank you for a wonderful year of pictures & inspiration.

  13. What a pleasure the holiday lights are for those of us who get to enjoy all your work. Thanks for a year of inspiration. As much as I love a white Christmas, I am enjoying clear pavement this year for as long as it lasts.

  14. Shelby Staples says

. . . and then there it was . . . the lone tree in the urn . . . this year with white lights, or so it appeared. Last year (I think it was), you had chartreuse lights on it, and I wrote, and you told me where to get them. I did and so many ask me, “What it that color? Where did you get them?” I so worry about the time when they have played out and being unable to find them again, but for now, I will just enjoy my tree with those lights. It sits alone towards my woods, but still visible to passer bys. I always look forward to your pictures and advice. You are a blessing to us out here who love your work. Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday period and some very rewarding and deserved rest.

    • Deborah Silver says

  19. Deborah, So glad I’ve found your site. Your inspirational postings have helped me push my design thinking in many directions. Also appreciate your practical installation tips. I’ve become a big fan of the dry foam now for winter designs! Many good wishes for the holiday season and the very best to you and your crew for 2015. Keep it coming!

  20. Hello Deborah, I happened upon your site while searching for French clay pots…. go figure!!!
I am a Yooper…. transplanted to Petersburg VA. I really like your natural design work, and it was fun to see fir being used instead of southern loblolly pine for pots… but I have a question, where do you get your magnolia leaves… do you use silk? If they are fresh, even if you soak them, how can you keep them from drying and cracking within a couple of days up there????? I found the Michigan Holly interesting, I don’t ever remember seeing it. but it is sooo beautiful. I am very fortunate to have mature acuba, 3 different types of holly, poets laurel, nandina and magnolia all in my yard… A farm up the road has my boxwood and eastern cedar!!! Thank You Garden Godesses !!! Also, I love Rob’s large lit circles….. I love everything on your site…. (wish I had 7 figures to drop!!!) but scale wise, don’t you think the magnolia wreath needs to be much larger within the circle?

  21. Heather Burkhardt says

The super-lighted little conifer/christmas tree in the pot is beauty.

    • Deborah Silver says

Dear Heather, pictures can be so deceiving. That tree is 8′ tall, in a 42″ by 42″ pot! I like iot too-it lights up my entire side yard. Best, Deborah
